State Route 4016

Erie, PA - 2012

Project Description

SR 4016 runs through downtown Erie, PA. District 1-0 selected a section of roadway between Glenwood Park Avenue (adjacent to the Erie Zoo) and Old French Road as a test section for FORTA-FI®. The District mandates PG64-22 in urban settings and in areas of high turning movement and fibers were added to their existing job mix formula. The fiber reinforced asphalt was placed in the eastbound lanes (where the road was divided) and in the eastbound and turning lanes (where the road was undivided). 2” of road was milled, and a 1/2” scratch course was placed followed by a 1-1/2” WMA wearing course which contained no RAP.
