State Route 61

Port Clinton, PA - 2014

Description

Penn DOT 5-0 chose SR61 for their FORTA-FI® pilot project in 2014. The northbound stretch between Mountain Road and SR895 was paved using fibers. The southbound lane had no fibers. This pavement was selected because it is a distressed concrete section which has been treated with a microsurfacing application. Ideally, the pavement should be replaced, but until funding is available 5-0 is essentially looking for a better Band-Aid. A 1 1/2” leveling course was placed followed by a 1 1/2” wearing course using PG76-22.
