Los Angeles County, CA - 2017

Project Description

FORTA-FI was used in a control vs fiber project in LA County on Davenport Road. This was a side-by-side comparison with FORTA-FI reinforced asphalt on the north side and conventional asphalt on the south side. Both lanes were laid in a 2” thick overlay using a PG 70-10 ½” asphalt mix.

Update

The project is less than two years old, but the difference between FORTA-FI reinforced asphalt and conventional asphalt is very apparent. The project totals 3.7 miles and the difference between the two lanes can be seen throughout the entire length. In addition to cracks within the lane, there are frequent cracks that stop at the center line where the fiber section starts.

Key Points

  • Reduced Cracking
  • Cost Effective
