Northgate Boulevard

Sacramento, CA - 2013

Description

The City of Sacramento chose a 3” mill with 3” FORTA-FI® reinforced HMA overlay in place of the conventional 3” mill with 4.5” HMA overlay that was planned for the rehabilitation of Northgate Boulevard. The FORTA-FI® reinforcement allowed a reduction in the thickness of the asphalt layer without sacrificing design life; this resulted in estimated material cost savings of $3.85/SY or $92,400 for the 24,000 SY project.

Update

After two years of service, the pavement is showing no signs of distress and is completely free of reflective cracking and rutting.
