Project Description
Love’s Travel Stop, a newly constructed rest stop, was in need of a large parking lot that would perform well under heavy truck traffic. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the base layer thickness had to be increased. This meant a change in elevation and additional excavation. FORTA-FI® was used in the wearing course, in order to reduce the thickness, keeping the elevation roughly the same. The use of FORTA-FI® allowed for the same structural support while at a reduced thickness, saving the project time and money.
Update
One year later the parking lot continues to exceed expectations despite the daily high volume of truck traffic.
