Description
The city of Willard, Ohio used FORTA-FI® in their surface overlay as a replacement for polymer modified asphalt on the Keefer Street repaving project in September of 2012. The busy street was milled, recieved a traditional asphalt leveling course, and was topped with a 1” FORTA-FI® reinforced overlay. The Willard city engineer and the city manager specified FORTA-FI® in order to decrease the topcoat layer thickness while also three dimensionally reinforcing the asphalt placement on the thinner mat. The fiber was easily added to the drum plant without the need of any addtional equipment.
