Project Description

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) chose to use FORTA-FI to reinforce the northbound lane of the Garden State Parkway between mile marker 21.9 and 23.1. For this mill and fill project,
5,600 tons of fiber reinforced asphalt was used and laid at a thickness of 2.5 inches. FORTA-FI fiber was added to the asphalt using the FORTA Voyager wireless fiber feeder before laying the asphalt. NJTA chose FORTA-FI to increase the durability of this highway and aid in cracking and rutting due to the high-volume traffic this toll road is exposed to daily. Using FORTA-FI fiber to reinforce this highway will reduce long term maintenance in the future.
