Department of Public Works – Auburn Hills, MI

Auburn Hills, MI - September 2018

Project Description

The Department of Public Works (DPW), located in Auburn Hills, Mi, chose to reinforce the asphalt in their new parking lot project using FORTA-FI high tensile fibers. This project consisted of
repaving the DPW parking lot and the area around the fuel pumps. For this trial, they used a total of 3,000 tons of asphalt and 400 of the tons were fiber reinforced asphalt. This project design was a mill and fill with a finished thickness of 1½ inches. By reinforcing this parking lot with FORTA-FI, the DPW will increase the durability; therefore, extending the life of this project and reducing future maintenance costs. Ultimately, the DPW will see a higher reduction in cracking and raveling over the control section of this trial.
